The Pedal

Introducing Beloved - our flagship dual overdrive pedal. Designed to be versatile, functional, and compact, Beloved is a space-saving power machine that can take the place of two pedals without overcrowding your board. With both a Drive and Boost function, Beloved has a wide range of uses from worship to rock to metal and beyond.

Originally inspired by the Dan Armstrong Blue Clipper, Beloved’s Drive side is a low-to-medium gain overdrive with a sound all its own. It’s crunchy, touch-sensitive, and transparent in all the right ways. When combined with the Boost side, it yields soaring leads and punchy chords that approach the intensity of a distortion pedal.

The Boost side is a TS-style circuit with permanently minimized gain. It gives the tasty mid-push that TS circuits are famous for. Put it in front of a clean amp with a single-coil neck pickup for the perfect blues sound, or put it in front of a dirty high-gain amp for instant metal.

Beloved includes an order toggle for added versatility. When the toggle is in the left position, the Boost feeds into the Drive, which adds a pleasing alternate flavor to the pedal’s distortion characteristics. When the toggle is in the right position, the Drive feeds into the Boost, which causes the Boost to act as a tone shaper to help the Drive cut through any mix with ease.

Beloved is true bypass, hand-soldered, runs on a standard 9V power supply, and adds a gorgeous splash of pink to your pedalboard!

The Story

My mother gifted my brother and me with plaques when we were young. On them was her favorite Bible verse, Colossians 3:12.

“So then, as those chosen of God, holy and beloved…”

That plaque is still hanging in my home, and I found myself focused on it one day while working on the design for Beloved. I got the sense that God wanted me to name the pedal Beloved. I didn’t understand at the time, but I agreed. I now understand that He wanted me to give myself and others a reminder that we are all His Beloved.

My mother grew up believing she had to earn God’s love but was never actually able to do so. Her upbringing was full of guilt and shame, and she gravitated towards that verse from Colossians because it gave her a different story to cling to.

God loved her no matter what she did, and no matter how badly she may mess up. She was Beloved by Him.

My belief has always been that I had to earn God’s love, and, like my mother, I was never capable of doing it. My mother gave us those plaques because she wanted us to have reminders of the truth that God already loves us. My hope is that Beloved serves as a reminder to anyone who finds it that God loves you as well. No matter what. May you see this pedal and remember you are Beloved.

The People

Beloved would not be possible without Jack Orman’s development of the Son of Screamer, a true-bypass version of the original TS. Thanks to Jack for making the schematic available online for builders like me!
